MOON SU LEE, 25
Moon Su Lee was born in New Zealand and started his piano studies at the age of five. His teachers include Bryan Sayer and Katherine Austin. Moon has achieved numerous awards both locally and nationally, including winning the Sonata Class in the North Shore Competitions. He has reached the semi-finals of both the Christchurch National Piano Concerto Competition and the Wallace National Piano Competition. He has also received the Margaret Doone Memorial and D.D. O’Connor Scholarships from IRMTNZ Auckland Branch and was a recent recipient of the Alice Cole Piano Scholarship from the Dame Malvina Major Foundation. In 2016, Moon was a finalist in the National Young Performer Competition held in Palmerston North and has competed internationally in Romania, Thailand and Australia. He was selected for the finals of The University of Auckland’s Graduation Gala Concerto Competition and played Schumann’s Piano Concerto with The University of Auckland Symphony Orchestra. Moon recently received a scholarship to the Brevard Music Festival in North Carolina.
